Museum

Works of art in museums have to be protected against theft and vandalism. As sometimes camera systems which are already installed do not provide adequate protection, as they are not tamper-proof, e.g. in cases of dazzling, LASER measurement systems are chosen: they can be used flexibly for touring exhibitions and they have the capacity to detect very precisely.

Solution

LASER scanner systems, such as the LZR®-S600 have been designed for this kind of application. They can be used for vertical or horizontal protection.
Thanks to the LASER technology, this kind of solution is mostly independent of the lighting conditions and therefore, is effectively protected against incident light.

The LZR®-S600 allows monitoring a complete surface; as soon as a person enters the monitored field, i.e. tries to reach the to-be-protected paintings, the LASER scanner will go into detection allowing the security systems to launch an alarm.
The LZR®-S600 can also feature a so-called night & day functionality, i.e. during the day, the field will only protect paintings in a given area, whereas during night the LASER scanner could monitor an additional area, such as a door/access.

The LASER scanner system can  also be used to position further camera systems.
The light beams emitted by a LASER scanner are invisible.

Other infrared sensors, such as the IRIS can  also be used for this purpose.
The benefit of using the LZR®-S600 is the possibility to cover an area of about 10 m × 10 m and therefore protect several paintings with one single sensor.
