Windows
Nowadays, automatic systems like automatically operated windows are more and more in use in modern buildings. They bring more comfort, make life easier for disabled persons and integrate in the centrally processed building management. In the first place, they help decrease the use of air-conditioning systems and reduce the overall carbon foot-print. However, automatic systems induce hazards for the users to be assessed at the design and integration stages in order to reduce the injury risks.
Solution
The LZR®-W400 is a sensing solution which can solve the problem. This sensor can secure automatic windows and even complete façades, e.g. also protect a person standing on a danger point during the closing cycle. The LZR®-400 will then prevent the window from closing or let it re-open. One LZR®-W400 can cover a surface of 5 m × 5 m and monitor a window or a whole façade. It will do so on vertical or horizontal areas.
Moreover, the four slightly inclined detection planes shaping the detection area allow to monitor not only the windows but also the area close to the window threshold, which is very much improving the users’ safety. The LZR®-W400 is currently used as a protective device for automatic windows in several schools, at places where children can access them. It is monitoring the whole façade windows in order to reduce the risks for the users.
